Once each year, on the day of the Dead when the year too dies, five days before the new year begins and the chosen Aelf dies, the Aelfar ride out for the Wild Hunt, led by the fated Aelf. Neighbouring Courts near the edges of the Wildwood band together to terrorise the other races who dwell outside. For one night, the Aelfar indulge in a killing frenzy - and each year, it is rumoured that a favoured group of Courts is led by a tall stranger in shining silver scale armour with a pair of antlers emerging from his temples. On this hunt, no living creature found outside a building is spared. Man, woman, child, beast of the field and wild creature, all that are found must either join the Hunt or die - and which is entirely up to the whim of the Hunt-Master.

A great annual games is held each year in the height of summer before Harvest, when the Courts of a region send their best athletes to compete in tests of physical and mental agility. Court Champions, one physical one magical and one mental, are created at these events, and it is not unheard of for a crown to change hands at the Kingsmoot afterwards, which every Aelfar champion and their rulers attend. For this week, hostilities between Courts are suspended as the local Aelfar get together for a large party, of which the contests are but a part. Many new alliances and marriage offers usually come from these events, as this is the only chance most have to see other Aelfar without trying to kill them.
